At 25 weeks, your belly size can be measured by your fundal height, which is the distance between your pubic bone and the top of your uterus — it’s likely about 25 centimeters. It's as big as a football! As you cope with other pregnancy symptoms, you might also be experiencing dry eyes. If your skin is looking paler than usual, it could be anemia, so be watchful. Your growing uterus is also putting more pressure on your stomach and other organs at this time, which can lead to issues with digestion and even constipation. If it is putting pressure on your sciatic nerve, it could be causing pain. For relief, you can apply an ice or cold pack to the area.

Ayurveda says maximum fat deposits happen now. In addition, the baby’s complexion is being determined.
Your little one’s startle reflexes are now developing. A loud noise can make him jolt!A startle reflex is nothing but an unconscious defensive response to sudden or threatening stimuli. That means loud music or sudden movement can startle him. This is explained by Acharya Harita in Ayurveda as “prasphuran” (quivering).
The lungs aren't the only system that are getting in shape for air intake. Your baby's nostrils and nose are starting to work this week, too. This makes it possible for the little one to begin taking practice breaths. The blood vessels in your baby's lungs are developing further this week.
The brain’s cortex is developing into elaborate layers which can be again directly correlated with buddhi as we have already seen what ayurveda says about the sixth month. “shasthe buddhi” (Sushruth Sharirsthana). In addition to the brain, other parts of the nervous system are continuing to develop, getting the baby’s information processing systems ready! This week the baby’s eyelids will open for the first time. Their brain waves are regulating what they see and hear, and their senses are all improving. The pupils can constrict , dilate and detect light entering their eyes. This response to light is connected to the evolution of related brain areas, i.e buddhi.
Till about a few weeks back, the baby's liver made blood cells. By week 21, the bone marrow took over as a producer of blood cells. Around this time, the bone marrow becomes the main site of blood cell production in your baby's body.
You might get an uncomfortable tingling, creeping and crawling in your feet and legs accompanied by an urge to move them especially as you're trying to get to sleep. This is RLS and strikes more at night, though it can occur any time when you're lying or sitting down.
Elevated levels of estrogen and progesterone cause the mucus membranes in your nose to swell. The resulting nasal congestion increases when you lie down, which can lead to snoring. If you have gained too much weight in pregnancy, the extra tissue around your head and neck could also be the culprit.
Heart palpitations are not uncommon during pregnancy because your heart is pumping 50 percent more blood, and pumping that extra blood even faster than normal. Pay attention to when you feel these flutters, skips or racing or pounding and mention it to your doctor, just to keep it in his or her knowledge.
There are many potential causes of foot, leg, and ankle swelling. In most cases, swelling occurs as a result of certain lifestyle factors, such as:
At this stage or later, some women experience pain in the pelvic area. It is localized at the bottom of the pelvis. This could be SPD which is caused by relaxed and stretchy ligaments that normally keep your pelvic joints, or the symphysis pubis, aligned. Keep doing yoga and Kegels to strengthen the muscles in that region.
Nasya
Application of coconut oil inside the nostrils (Nasya) with the finger tip helps to relieve swelling as well as dryness inside the nose. This also helps to reduce snoring.
A daily habit of steam inhalation with 2 drops of Nilgiri taila (Eucalyptus oil) relieves nasal congestion and also helps in managing headaches like migraines.
During your second trimester, possibly this week, expect to have these tests:
Your doctor may also recommend an electronic fetal heart monitoring (non-stress) anytime after 20 weeks of pregnancy. It is the doctor’s decision on when (s)he wants to start this form of testing.
Focus on this powerful combination: Vitamin C and Vitamin E! Vitamin C (ascorbic acid) is an essential water-soluble vitamin, whereas vitamin E represents eight fat-soluble, plant-derived compounds Many fruits and vegetables including guava, citrus fruits, tomatoes and broccoli are rich in vitamin C, while vitamin E is found in nuts, wheatgerm oil, vegetable oils and some leafy green vegetables. Both vitamins C and E function synergistically to promote antioxidant defences and inhibit free radical formation to prevent oxidative stress. Vitamin C is also involved in synthesising collagen, a primary component of connective tissue and has an important role in mobilising iron from stores and enhancing the absorption of dietary iron, so it can aid in preventing megaloblastic and iron-deficiency anaemia.

A normal pregnancy lasts for 40 weeks. Babies born after only 25 weeks are small and fragile. With intensive medical treatment most babies survive, but some do not. As per a study, in babies born at Week 25, nearly 8 out of 10 survived but only when they had access to high-technology NICU care.
For babies who survive, the earlier they are born, the higher the risk of complications or ongoing disability. There is a long list of potential problems — including asthma, anxiety, autism spectrum disorder, cerebral palsy, epilepsy and cognitive impairment.

What is the baby's mental development at Week 25 of pregnancy?
Your baby’s brain starts developing at 6 weeks of pregnancy and continues till the age of 25 years! The brain is growing rapidly. Deeper grooves and furrows are developing in her cerebral cortex, which is going to be the governing centre for many important functions including her ability to see, hear, smell, speak, and walk. Her brain is already controlling her rhythmic breathing, digestion, and body temperature.
The baby is also getting ready to respond to familiar sounds, such as your voice, with movement.
At this stage, the baby’s auditory and visual systems are activated by brain waves, the lips and mouth are increasingly sensitive, vision is improving with responses to light, and the eyelids can move. The nerve connections in her hands continue to develop. She uses her hands to explore her environment.
While the nerves around her mouth are becoming sensitive as she prepares to be able to suckle and nourish her own body after birth.
If you sweep and swab and do heavy physical labour during your pregnancy, you can avoid a caesarean.
While staying active during pregnancy is good to prepare your baby for dealing with labour, there is no connection between doing heavy-duty work and avoiding a caesarean.
Ragas : A message of love
Your womb is the cosmos of your child and music is the ‘naad’- sound which connects humans to the ‘brahma’- cosmos.
Science has proven that music will help your baby to connect in a comforting and deep way.
A musical treat through listening to ragas provides “anand” i.e contentment.
Classical music not only helps you strengthen your own memory during pregnancy, it stimulates the baby. Some babies have even demonstrated preferences to soothing music that has been played while they were still in the womb.
We have weekly yoga sessions to help mums to connect with babies for their all-round development.
The award-winning iMumz App is helping 350,000 + women make their pregnancies healthier and happier.
The rich text element allows you to create and format headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, images, and video all in one place instead of having to add and format them individually. Just double-click and easily create content.
A rich text element can be used with static or dynamic content. For static content, just drop it into any page and begin editing. For dynamic content, add a rich text field to any collection and then connect a rich text element to that field in the settings panel. Voila!
Headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, figures, images, and figure captions can all be styled after a class is added to the rich text element using the "When inside of" nested selector system.
